Beyonce and acclaimed director Jake Nava, came to us to design and produce the animation for the video of her track Grown Woman. We chose to create all the animation by hand, using stop motion techniques. The spot was part of Beyonce’s ground breaking self titled album and was one of seventeen she produced.

PROCESS

 

We created a rich library of stop motion elements, including cut-out paper, painted textures and hand-drawn type. We then pasted these elements together digitally with the keyed footage of Beyonce and her dancers, to create the desired effect of an “animated collage”.
